  • Patent number: 9249615
Abstract: A pivoting shutter having adjustable slats for buildings includes an upper panel provided with a first group of adjustable slats, mounted by the upper end thereof on a horizontal pivoting shaft. A lower panel is provided with a second group of adjustable slats, hinged by the upper end thereof to the upper panel and connected by the lower end thereof to a driving means for vertical movement for pivoting the panels between an open position and a closed position. First and second connectors are provided, which, when rotating the slats, link the adjustable slats of the first and second groups, respectively. A transmission mechanism links the two groups of slats in the closed position of the upper and lower panels, enabling in the closed position the simultaneous rotation of all the slats, and maintaining the groups of slats unlinked from one another in the open position of the panels.

Abstract: A wind-resistant awning is disclosed. The awning includes a backing which allows wind to flow through it, such as a mesh netting or screen backing. A plurality of flaps are attached at one edge only to the backing. The flaps are preferably horizontally aligned in parallel and overlap one another. The flaps are closed when the wind level is low. In the event a potentially harmful gust of wind presents itself, a free end of the flaps opens such that the force of the wind goes through the backing and does not damage the awning. The flaps are preferably weather resistant. Optionally, the flaps may have weak attachment means such as hook and loop fasteners to keep the flaps attached to the backing under normal conditions. The awning can be used in multiple settings and may be retractable. In various embodiments, the awning includes windows of mesh material having window flaps which lift away from the windows to allow wind flow therethrough.

  • Patent number: 4919158
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for washing pulp according to which method the pulp is supplied onto a movable liquid-pervious support surface (2) to form a substantially continuous layer (7); and washing liquid is supplied to the pulp layer and passed in several successive washing phases through different areas of the layer in such a way that the washing liquid gradually flows in the opposite direction compared with the flow direction of the pulp layer. According to the invention the washing liquid is divided in two or more partial flows which pass alternately through different washing phases in such a way that the washing liquid which in one phase has passed through the pulp layer flows past at least the washing phase preceding it in the flow direction of the pulp layer. The apparatus of the invention preferably comprises a rotating cylinder (1) the casting surface (2) of which serves as the liquid-pervious support surface for the pulp.
