Patent number: 9526204Abstract: A transport wheel assembly for use on an agricultural mower when the mower is configured for lateral transport 90 degrees from the normal operational direction of travel of mower. The transport wheel assembly comprises a moveable frame that pivots approximately 270 degrees between a retracted position when the mower is operating and a transport position, and an actuator to position the moveable frame between the retracted and transport positions. A linkage including a bell crank interconnects the actuator and the moveable frame to enable full extent of pivoting of the moveable frame with a single direction movement of the actuator between an extended and a retracted position. The transport wheel mechanisms also position the transport wheels where they will not interfere with mower operation, especially pivoting of the tongue.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2013Date of Patent: December 27, 2016Assignee: CNH Industrial America LLCInventors: Derek S. Patent number: 7849932Abstract: An apparatus for facilitating steering, height adjustment and transport of a farm implement towed by a vehicle. The implement includes a main frame and a hitch that extends from the frame for linking to the vehicle. The apparatus comprises a wheel support member supported below the frame, at least a first ground engaging wheel supported by the wheel support member for rotation about a first wheel axis and to engage a ground surface below the frame thereby supporting the frame above the ground, a first hydraulic lift cylinder linked between the frame and the wheel support member and controllable to adjust the height of the frame above the ground, and a hydraulic steering cylinder mounted to the wheel support member and controllable to steer the first wheel independent of the state of the first lift cylinder.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 2008Date of Patent: December 14, 2010Assignee: CNH Canada, Ltd.Inventors: Terry Friggstad, Dennis Thompson

Publication number: 20090090521Abstract: A method for dividing soil is disclosed. The method includes towing a frame via a hitch at a first end of the frame. The method also includes supporting the frame on the soil via an axle extending transversely of the frame, the axle connected to the frame between the first end of the frame and a second end of the frame. The method further includes dividing the soil with a plurality of rotatable discs attached to the frame between the frame and the soil, a first portion of the plurality of discs located between the first end of the frame and the axle, and a second portion of the plurality of discs located between the axle and the second end of the frame, wherein the first portion is aligned non-parallel with respect to the second portion. The method further includes moving the frame relative to the hitch to pivot about the axle.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 31, 2008Publication date: April 9, 2009Inventor: John P. Moyna

Patent number: 6786130Abstract: A depth control system particularly useful for single point depth control on an agricultural implement includes a valve and actuator mounted directly to the pivotal connection areas of a hydraulic cylinder that controls height. Cylinder motion directly controls valve actuation independently of complicated linkages to reduce the size and cost of the system and substantially overcome hysteresis problems.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 2002Date of Patent: September 7, 2004Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: David Lee Steinlage, Brian Thomas Mosdal, James Thomas Noonan, Garrett Lee Goins, Anthony Scott Royer, David Alan Payne

Patent number: 5996704Abstract: A towed, three row cultivator including a frame, a hitch bar, primary and secondary implement bars and vertical columns slidable within bearing housings attached at each side of the frame. The columns are attached to each other at the upper end by a bridge member and terminate in wheel assembles at the lower end. Actuators are provided for lifting and lowering the frame relative to the columns. Fertilizer and chemical tanks may also be provided for attachment to the bridge member, thereby placing the weight of such tanks and their contents directly on the wheels independent of the frame.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 1997Date of Patent: December 7, 1999Inventor: Paul J. Patent number: 5366024Abstract: An implement depth control system includes a rotating link pivotally connected to the frame adjacent the depth control cylinder. A cylinder pin contacts and rotates the link when the implement is lowered toward the field operating position. One end of an adjustable length member is threaded through a turnbuckle mounted on the link and contacts an actuator to limit cylinder retraction and set operating depth. The opposite end of the member extends to an easily accessed location on the implement and includes a crank handle for turning the member and thereby adjusting the length between the turnbuckle and actuator to vary the depth setting. An indicator near the crank handle provides an accurate depth indication at any depth setting, and relative depth adjustments may be made quickly while the implement is in the lowered field working position.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 1993Date of Patent: November 22, 1994Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventor: David A. Patent number: 4057111Abstract: A soil cultivating machine has a row of driven rotatable soil working members and a tool bar at the rear thereof to which tools, such as seed drills can be attached. The machine is connectable to a tractor lift and the members are driven via a p.t.o. At least one supporting member is detachably connected to the machine frame and the tool bar for operational support and transport purposes. The supporting member is elongated and extends rearwardly from the frame above the tool bar and to a rear support wheel. The supporting member includes a forward support that is pivoted to a rear arm and a hydraulic assembly bridges the pivot connection. Actuation of the assembly lifts the machine, including any tools on the tool bar so that the entire machine with attachments are supported solely by the tractor lift and the rear wheel or wheels.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1975Date of Patent: November 8, 1977Assignee: C. van der Lely N.
