Patent number: 7584040Abstract: The following steps are performed in the control method: determining a mode of operation from amongst a permanent mode and a transient mode, as a function of a set of variables comprising said estimated values; correcting the value of the speed of rotation of the outlet shaft in such a manner that: if the mode has been determined as being the permanent mode, then the moving average (L?) of the gear ratio (L) over a period (T) of a plurality of unit time intervals lies between a first threshold value (S1) that is negative and a second threshold value (S2) that is positive; and if the mode has been determined as being the transient mode, then said moving average (L?) of the gear ratio (L) lies outside the range of values defined by the first and second threshold value (S1, S2).Type: GrantFiled: February 3, 2004Date of Patent: September 1, 2009Assignee: Peugeot Citroen Automobiles SAInventor: Stéphane Rimaux

Patent number: 7047839Abstract: In a transmission for a working vehicle, a PTO input shaft is located with its rotational axis extending in a vehicle lengthwise direction substantially at a widthwise center of a transmission case along a vehicle width direction. A running power input shaft is located with its rotational axis extending in the vehicle lengthwise direction substantially at the same position as that of the PTO input shaft along the vehicle width direction and at a lower side of the PTO input shaft. The transmission case provides an accommodation space for accommodating a differential gear unit, which space is displaced to a first lateral side of the vehicle along the vehicle width direction. A running power transmission shaft is located on the front side of the space with its axis extending in the vehicle lengthwise direction, and the running power input shaft, the running power transmission shaft and the differential gear unit are interlocked to each other via a running power gear train.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 2004Date of Patent: May 23, 2006Inventors: Norihiro Ishii, Hirohiko Kawada, Hideki Kanenobu, Hiroshi Tottori, Kentaro Nagata

Patent number: 5267488Abstract: A novel housing adapts a clutch for installation in series with a torque converter in modified rear- engined, air-cooled Volkswagen vehicles. The housing provides a rear partial chamber housing the clutch and flywheel, and is interposed between an automatic transmission bell housing and a manual transmission of the vehicle. The housing uses preexisting fasteners to bolt to both the bell housing and the transmission. The clutch and flywheel are driven by the torque converter, and a release bearing is retained within the housing. The housing also bolts to the manual transmission using preexisting fasteners. The manual transmission is modified to include an input shaft from an automatic transmission. The engine is displaced 2.5 inches to the rear. Accelerated wear to the clutch and constant velocity joints is mitigated, while driving characteristics of a manual transmission are retained.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 1992Date of Patent: December 7, 1993Inventors: Michael L.
