  • Patent number: 4554531
Abstract: The stator of the sound generator in the siren of this invention is mounted on struts that diverge upwardly from the top of an upright post, with its axis coinciding with that of the post. The coaxial rotor of the sound generator is driven by a motor mounted on top of the stator. Sound from the generator is concentrated and directed by a horn that flares along its length from a closed end portion to a mouth. The closed end portion is dome-like and concentrically surrounds and covers the sound generator, opening unrestrictedly downwardly into a bottom portion of the horn that curves along its length so that the mouth, which is wholly spaced below the sound generator, opens to one side of the post. The post extends through a bottom wall portion of the horn. Rollers supported by the stator engage a downwardly facing annular track surface in the closed end portion of the horn to support the horn for rotation, one roller being rotatably driven from the siren motor to rotate the horn during siren operation.

  • Patent number: 4253368
Abstract: An improved mounting for an acoustic pulsato rotor for suppression of spurious sounds utilizes a spring bias for axial thrust between the shaft ends and bearing cups. In one form, a plurality of thin spider legs extend from a rotor mounting panel in surrounding relationship to the rotor to provide the spring characteristics while being acoustically transparent to the sound radiation pattern that sweeps past. The spider legs have a quick fit, anti-noise twist lock connection to a central hub. Improved rubber-like grommets provide anti-shock and anti-noise mounting for the shaft. Improved rubber-like grommets in cooperation with a two part motor mounting provide anti-shock and anti-noise motor mounting without sacrifice of simple belt tension adjustment capability. A light weight back enclosure for the speaker acquires sound isolation characteristics of a sturdy structure by imposing stress on the enclosure.

  • Patent number: 4035582
Abstract: A tremolo effect producing system comprises at least one electro-acoustic transducer such as a loudspeaker for converting an electrical audio signal to a sound, at least one acousto-electrical transducer such as a microphone for converting sound to an electrical signal and disposed so as to face the loudspeaker, and at least one sound shielding member rotatably mounted between the above-mentioned two transducers and having sound transmitting openings or cutouts whereby sounds from the speaker will be periodically and/or individually interrupted with fade-in and fade-out effects as said member is rotated. These transducers and sound shielding member are sealed in a closed housing. Thereby the sound wave emitted from the speaker through the openings or cutouts of the rotating member is converted to an electrical signal with natural tremolo effects by the microphone. The thus-produced signal may be mixed with an audio signal with non-tremolo effect and amplified and reproduced by a loudspeaker.
