    Abstract: A boxable corner bead for finishing drywall corners that is made from two flanges with a protruding nose section. This bead can be made in regular, bullnose, or flex trim type arrangements. Once the bead is attached to a drywall corner, it can be mudded on both sides of the corner without waiting for the mud on the first side to dry. This is because of the shape of the nose which allows a mud dispensing box to apply mud on one side without getting mud on the nose. The box can then be immediately moved to the other side, where that side can be mudded. The nose itself is prepared to directly receive paint or texture, and hence does not need any mud. The flex-trim version has a raised trapezoidal section with a V-groove cut in the back. The bead hinges around the V-groove to match any corner angle. Both sides can be mudded as with the fixed bead. The beads can be used with both interior and exterior corners.

    Abstract: A panel support construction accessory includes a back flange and a bottom flange obliquely extending from the back flange. The bottom flange includes an array of perforations for permitting moisture removal. Preferably, the panel support construction accessory additionally includes a lower flange coupled to the bottom flange and spaced from the bottom flange to create a cavity below the array of perforations. A filter material, such as open cellular material, is supported adjacent the array of perforations. The filter material transmits moisture. Alternatively, the construction accessory includes a forward flange extending between the lower flange and the bottom flange in lieu of or in addition to the filter material. Preferably, at least one of the lower flange and the forward flange includes an opening that communicates with the cavity.

    Abstract: A finishing device used to form a corner between two panels of drywall has a flexible joint extending along a predetermined axis. Two wings are connected to and extend outwardly in a diverging relation from the flexible joint to form a corner having an adjustable angle. Each wing has a front surface, a rear surface, and an edge distal from the flexible joint. This edge abuts one of said drywall panels and has a thickness approximately equal to the thickness of the drywall panel. Alternatively, the edge has an adjustable thickness to fit various thicknesses of drywall panel. A layer of primer or adhesive laminate is applied to the front surface of the wings so that paint can bond to the front surface. The finishing device is capable of forming both inside and outside corners. To form inside corners, the finishing device bends along the flexible joint.

    Abstract: To overcome the difficulties of properly spacing the lower terminal edge of siding above a roof with flashing therebetween, an outwardly projecting elongated guide is formed in the elongated vertical portion of the siding at the predetermined level above the elongated horizontal portion of the flashing. This allows the installer to use the guide to properly cut the siding as well as installing the same the correct distance above the roof. If an attempt is made to install siding to close to the roof, the same will not lie flat against the flashing so that an obvious incorrect installation is indicated.

It allows a drywall worker to string tape by starting the tape a few inches away from a corner and running to the next corner, ending a few inches away from the second corner. The worker thus does not have to gauge exactly where to cut the tape to mate into the corners. Also, the effect of tape slip while stringing becomes unimportant. After the tape and drywall mud is dry, before the finishing step, the pre-fabricated corners are placed in every corner of a room, held in place by drywall mud. A drywall worker needs only to put a small amount of topping mud on the flanges and then "kill" the corner with a 4-6 inch knife.

    Abstract: The present invention is directed to a removable spacing device and method therefor, for use in the application of stucco to a building's exterior. The removable spacing device is comprised of a section of tape and a substantially triangle-shaped spacer, and is applied to the edge of a window frame, door frame, or similar structure prior to the application of a layer of stucco adjacent thereto. After the stucco layer has dried, the removable spacing device is removed, and the resulting space created by the device is filled with caulk or a similar weatherproofing material. This device and method prevents the formation of small cracks between a stucco layer and adjacent frame, which cracks are too small to be filled with caulk and which allow the damaging penetration of water into the stucco and underlying layers.

    Abstract: A drywall corner bead which includes a plurality of integral preformed barbs provided at intervals along the length of the corner bead for securing the corner bead to a drywall corner. The corner bead includes first and second longitudinally-extending flanges which are interconnected by a longitudinally-extending rounded nose, and the first and second flange are disposed at an angle of less than 90.degree. with respect to each other. The barbs project inwardly from the flanges in a generally perpendicular direction and have a length of less than about 3/32 of an inch. When the corner bead is applied to a drywall corner, the barbs penetrate substantially only the paper layer of the underlying drywall and secure the corner bead to the corner. The drywall corner bead can be rapidly applied to a corner without requiring additional tools or materials, and the corner bead is securely affixed to the corner by the barbs until the corner is finished with joint compound and paint.
