    Abstract: An engine control device capable of decreasing engine output while giving less uncomfortable feeling to the rider in the event of a failure, with a simple configuration. Engine output is decreased when a failure has been detected in a throttle valve. When engine speed after the occurrence of the failure is larger than preset target rotational speed at the time of the occurrence of the failure, an ignition of the engine is cut off. The engine speed thereby can be decreased according to the preset target rotational speed. Thus, engine output can be decreased uniquely.

    Abstract: An aircraft speed control system for use with an automatic throttle position control system and automatic flight control system permits capturing and maintaining a commanded airspeed during the capturing of a desired altitude from either climbing or descending flight. The system manipulates the throttles at a variable rate dependent on the difference between the actual thrust of the aircraft and the desired cruising thrust at the selected airspeed and inversely proportional to the actual altitude rate. A signal derived from thrust error and altitude rate signals is utilized to generate a limiter control signal which is combined with an engine pressure ratio signal to generate a drive signal for urging the aircraft to capture precisely the commanded airspeed.

    Abstract: An engine speed and loss of oil pressure control arrangement for an engine such as is used in transport refrigeration and is operative at a low speed and a high speed, the arrangement including two axially aligned pistons 12 and 36 into adjacent cylinders 10 and 34, respectively, the first piston 12 moving from an engine off position to a low speed position upon closure of the valve 22 when engine operation is initiated, this forcing the second piston 36 to a low speed position which effects said low speed through leakage 40 to the engine speed control means, the second piston 36 moving further to the right to an engine high speed position upon opening of valve 28 in a conduit leading from the first cylinder to the second cylinder.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method for operating an auxiliary hydraulic load at low noise levels. A pump having a capacity which is sufficiently large to supply the load with the necessary volume of hydraulic fluid at relatively low pump speeds is driven by an engine operating at a speed near its idling speed. Throttle control means control the fuel supply to the engine at a level sufficient to drive the pump while maintaining the engine speed near its idling speed. When the engine speed is increased to a predetermined level in excess of its idling speed, means are provided to maintain the output from the pump at or below a predetermined flow rate to not overload the pump means or the auxiliary load. The pump may include a variable displacement pump or a plurality of fixed displacement pumps with means to vary the pump output in response to the pressure demand from the auxiliary load to maintain the torque input requirements for the pump below a predetermined level.
