Alternate Pedal Positions Patents (Class 91/391A)
  • Patent number: 5042363
Abstract: The invention aims at bringing about a device for remote controlling of, for example, directional valves, which likewise allows a manual direct controlling, using a hand lever, for example. The control device includes a hydraulic cylinder (37) with ports (31,32) for feeding and evacuating, respectively, of hydraulic fluid, a piston (14) arranged in the cylinder (37), as well as a piston rod (13), for accomplishing the controlling function. The piston rod (13) is arranged to be slideably supported in the piston (14), allowing a limited movement of the piston rod (13) relative to the piston (14) independent of the pressure and load conditions in the cylinder (37), the movement possibility of the piston rod (13) being limited in at least one direction by a stop (17) arranged on the piston rod.

  • Patent number: 4987983
Abstract: The actuator includes a power-assisted main mechanical linkage connecting the clutch pedal lever to the clutch plate lever. The power-assisting assembly is supplied high pressure air and is actuatable by pedal-driven movement of the main linkage. A manually operable piston and cylinder device operates to vary the movement of the linkage and therefore alter the action of the applied force to the main linkage for a reduced pedal stroke mode of operation. The actuator is operable in one of two modes: a power-assisted mechanical mode wherein mechanical force applied to the linkage is dominant; and a selectable power-assisted/mechanical mode with a reduced pedal stroke length wherein the power-assist is the dominant operating force. In either mode, the main mechanical linkage is always operatively connected between the pedal lever and plate lever to provide for purely mechanical operation in the event of air pressure failure.

  • Patent number: 4875740
Abstract: A braking device for use in a motor vehicle has a vacuum motor having a casing, a power piston displaceably mounted in the casing through a diaphragm which partitions the interior of the casing into a constant pressure chamber and a variable pressure chamber and which is adapted to be displaced by the pressure difference between the two chambers. A input rod of the braking device is connected to the brake pedal. A valve mechanism is disposed in the power piston and controls the pressure in the variable pressure chamber in response to force applied to the input rod. A control valve is connected to the vacuum motor and adapted to be electrically controlled by a controller to selectively supply driving pressure to the vacuum motor.

  • Patent number: 4326379
Abstract: The invention relates to a master cylinder for an automobile braking circuit which is suitable for dual-circuit or single-circuit application. The master cylinder has at least one chamber connected to the braking circuit, the pressure in the chamber being controlled by depression of a master piston by a brake pedal.

  • Patent number: 4285199
Abstract: The invention relates to a hydraulic brake booster for a vehicle brake apparatus which is provided with a pressurizing apparatus which has a pump and a reservoir. When the reservoir pressure fails, a switchover piston which is subject to the reservoir pressure can disengage a stop for the push rod of the control valve. The push rod is supported on the stop when the pressure supply to the reservoir is intact and after the control valve switches over in the direction of brake activation, in order to give the driver a sense of the added brake force. In the same event, a support of a pedal activation stem on a movable auxiliary cylinder is removed. When the reservoir pressure supply fails, however, this support is made available, in order to enable an immediate mechanical actuation of the main cylinder portion of the brake booster.

  • Patent number: 4253305
Abstract: The invention provides an assisted braking device which operates in conjunction with a brake pedal disposed at one end of a brake lever. The device comprises a master piston and cylinder assembly the piston of which is interconnected with the piston of an assisting jack by means of a connecting element on which is articulated the brake lever. The end of the brake lever remote from the brake pedal acts on a distributor adapted to feed the assisting jack with assisting hydraulic pressure so that when a force is applied to the brake pedal and thereby to the master piston via the connecting element, the distributor directs hydraulic fluid under pressure to the assisting jack, the piston of which then applies an assisting force to the connecting element.
