  • Patent number: 4719586
Abstract: A process control is provided for continuously monitoring and adjusting an apparatus for manufacturing discrete workpieces. The system measures a current workpiece by taking fifteen readings and deleting the highest five and lowest five readings and averaging the center five readings. This value is then used for sorting the workpiece in accordance with preset tolerance limits. The measured average value is also compared with an expected value which the system has computed and stored. An adjustment value is then calculated based on a comparison of the measured dimension of the current workpiece and a measured dimension of the last-produced workpiece and the expected value for the current workpiece. The apparatus is then adjusted in accordance with the computed adjustment value.

  • Patent number: 4126704
Abstract: A machine is provided for practicing the method of forming a comestible in one of a variety of shapes from a foodstuff slurry. The slurry includes a gel-forming material and is supplied in predetermined amounts to a cavity which has been washed with a combination release and gellation agent. Apparatus is provided for contacting the exposed surface of the slurry in the cavity with a gellation agent to gel the gel-forming material at the outer surface of the formed product. Further apparatus is provided for transporting the cavity filled with the foodstuff to a product removal station. Punch apparatus is aligned with the cavity at the product removal station and is actuated to extend into and extrude the product from the cavity onto a conveyor belt to be removed for further processing.

  • Patent number: 4091243
Abstract: Detection of valid two-out of-N multifrequency signals is realized by employing a microprocessor in conjunction with a controllably adjustable or settable reference threshold level and a plurality of threshold detectors. Under control of the processor, a reference threshold level supplied to the detectors is set to a first prescribed level. Upon detection of a tone which exceeds the first threshold level the processor controllably sets the reference threshold level to a second prescribed level. Detection of two, and only two, tones which are present for at least a minimum prescribed interval are then considered valid.
