Patent number: 9896593Abstract: A method, and an article made therefrom, of: contacting a substrate with a first solution of first polyelectrolyte chains to form a layer of the first polyelectrolyte on the substrate; and contacting the layer of the first polyelectrolyte with a second solution of second polyelectrolyte chains to form a layer of the second polyelectrolyte. The first polyelectrolyte has a polyanion or polycation chain. The second polyelectrolyte has a polyanion or polycation chain of a charge opposite to that of the first polyelectrolyte. The first solution or the second solution is an aggregate-forming solution comprising an ionic species having at least two discrete sites of a charge opposite to that of the polyelectrolyte chains in the aggregate-forming solution. The ionic species forms, via bridging interactions, aggregates of the polyelectrolyte chains that remain intact in the aggregate-forming solution during the contact.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 2014Date of Patent: February 20, 2018Assignee: The United States of America, as represented by the Secretary of the NavyInventors: Walter J. Patent number: 9895453Abstract: An improved ultrasound gel adapted to have a shiny effect by adding glitter to an ultrasound gel, using a silver, reflective label and using a silver, reflective dispenser closure. This improved ultrasound gel is adapted to a pink lavendula lavender color by using the preservatives as coloring agents. Lavender essential oil is used as a perfume and preservative. The reflective glitter, reflective label, and reflective dispenser closure allow the ultrasonographer to better see the ultrasound gel and bottle in a darkened ultrasound room. The ultrasound gel is improved to have an aesthetic effect for the patient and healthcare provider by providing the combination of both a pink lavendula lavender color and a lavender scent.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 2017Date of Patent: February 20, 2018Inventors: Mark Edward Fenzl, Tonya Suzanne Fenzl

Patent number: 9859595Abstract: An electrode includes a plant-derived porous carbon material. When a peak value of an O(1s) spectrum of the porous carbon material obtained by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy is defined as PO, and a peak value of a C(1s) spectrum thereof is defined as PC, PO/PC?0.05, or an oxygen-containing functional group has been removed from a surface of the plant-derived porous carbon material.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2014Date of Patent: January 2, 2018Assignee: SONY CORPORATIONInventors: Hironori Iida, Seiichiro Tabata, Shun Yamanoi, Shinichiro Yamada

Patent number: 9808000Abstract: Water dispersible granules are provided containing (a) an agrochemical active ingredient that is solid at 25° C., (b) a polyoxyalkylene alkyl ether phosphate or its salt, (c) at least one anionic surfactant selected from the group consisting of arylsulfonates or their formaldehyde condensates, ligninsulfonates, and polycarboxylates, and (d) lactose. The granules are water dispersible granules having good disintegrability and dispersibility in water and also having good storage stability. The water dispersible granules can be disintegrated and dispersed in a small amount of water. Accordingly, the water dispersible granules can be mixed with paste fertilizers to produce agrochemical-containing paste fertilizers, which can also be used in paddy fields and are useful water dispersible granules.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 2014Date of Patent: November 7, 2017Assignee: Sumitomo Chemical Company, LimitedInventors: Rie Takabe, Seiji Iuchi

Patent number: 9801574Abstract: The invention provides an implantable membrane for regulating the transport of analytes therethrough that includes a matrix including a first polymer; and a second polymer dispersed throughout the matrix, wherein the second polymer forms a network of microdomains which when hydrated are not observable using photomicroscopy at 400× magnification or less. In one aspect, the homogeneous membrane of the present invention has hydrophilic domains dispersed substantially throughout a hydrophobic matrix to provide an optimum balance between oxygen and glucose transport to an electrochemical glucose sensor.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 2015Date of Patent: October 31, 2017Assignee: DexCom, Inc.Inventors: Mark A.
