  • Patent number: 10722335
Abstract: A surgical device for assisting in the placement of a prosthetic implant. One or more sheets of polymer are in the form of a conical frustum such that a proximal end is sealed and a distal end is open, with an elongated slit extending from the distal end toward the proximal end. A single opening is formed by the distal opening and the elongated slit with a set of inter-lockable fastener elements disposed along opposing sides and configured to seal the elongated slit such that the distal end remains open to allow for egress of the prosthetic implant for placement into a surgical pocket. A lubricious coating is applied to the interior cavity of the frustum in addition to one or more surface active coatings. Movement of the prosthetic implant across the one or more surface active coatings causes the coatings to provide one or more offered benefits.

  • Publication number: 20200155334
Abstract: Systems and methods for treating eating disorders using electro-physiologically active transducer intragastric balloon system (“EAT system”) are described herein. The EAT System includes an intragastric balloon that is configured to operate in a typical fashion and further modified to include an integrated electro-physiological stimulation unit. The stimulation unit is configured to generate impulses using a transducer that are suitable for stimulating sensory receptors located around the stomach. In particular, transducer transmits mechanical waves through the fluid within the IG balloon and its outer shell to any receptors of the vagus nerve system that are located in the vicinity of the IG balloon. Controlled stimulation of the vagus nerve fibers using the stimulation unit can effectively produce appetite controlling sensations of satiety beyond the typical efficacy period of an unmodified IG balloon.

  • Patent number: 10600252
Abstract: A first display device and method are provided for accelerating the coarse relocalization process of the first display device by generating a session-specific identifier and sending it to a second display device, which transmits the identifier to a cloud service, which returns at least a portion of a map data set corresponding to the identifier. The returned map data set is then stitched into the local map data of the first display device to create an integrated map, which is used to render one or a plurality of holograms. The first display device may comprise a processor, a memory operatively coupled to the processor, and a fingerprint program stored in the memory and executed by the processor.

  • Patent number: 10575936
Abstract: A surgical device for assisting in the placement of a prosthetic implant within a surgical pocket of a patient such that placement minimizes tissue stress along and inside the surgical pocket. The surgical device comprises a bag shaped as a conical frustum in which a proximal end of the conical frustum is sealed and a distal end of the conical frustum is open, with an elongated slit extending from the distal end towards the proximal end. An opening formed by the distal opening and the elongated slit is sufficiently large enough to accept the prosthetic implant into the bag. According to one embodiment, an adhesive is affixed along a portion of the elongated slit to seal the elongated slit such that the distal end remains open, thereby allowing for egress of the implant from the bag and placement into the surgical pocket.

  • Publication number: 20190107250
Abstract: Systems and methods provided herein concern a fluid delivery system for use with medical devices and, more specifically, for activating surface coatings of medical devices prior to use in medical procedures. The fluid delivery system comprises one or more sheets of biocompatible wicking material that is attached to a reservoir. Sealed within the reservoir is a fluid, such as physiologic saline or other appropriate hydrating solution. In addition, the reservoir comprises at least one outlet, such as a frangible seal, that can be selectively breached prior to use by applying pressure to the reservoir, e.g., by squeezing or twisting the reservoir. Breaching the frangible seal thus releases the fluid onto the wicking material, which, in turn, serves to wet the medical device and consequently activate the surface coating.

  • Patent number: 10038842
Abstract: One or more techniques and/or systems are disclosed for generating improved planar panorama imagery, which may be used to view street-level, human-scale locations along a desired path, for example. One or more desired objects can be detected in source imagery that may be used to produce the resulting planar panorama imagery. Respective object regions comprising a desired object can be identified in one or more frames of the source imagery. One or more portions of the source imagery that do not comprise the object region for the desired object can be joined with at least some of the one or more frames that do comprise the object region for the desired object. The resulting planar panorama imagery can thus comprise the desired object. Also, the planar panorama imagery can be generated so as to lack one or more non-desired objects and/or adverse effects that may result therefrom.

  • Patent number: RE47865
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for generating a document preview. According to the method, a preview handler provides an interface to one or more previewers. The previewers are software components capable of generating a visual preview for one or more document types. In response to a request from a host application to generate a preview for a document, the preview handler is operative to identify the appropriate previewer for generating a preview for the document. The preview handler may then call the previewer and instruct the previewer to load the document and to show the preview in a sub-window of a window provided by the calling host application.
